From Susan

As we approach the end of 2024, I am excited about what 2025 holds. The MHR Team will continue collaborating with our current clients to support their ongoing success while also welcoming new clients to guide them through their NCQA Accreditation journey.

I speak directly with many leaders in health insurance and related companies, asking about our consulting services. Deciding to hire an NCQA consultant does not come lightly for organizations fraught with the lack of bandwidth, internal expertise, and budget constraints.

Regardless of your situation, chances are, MHR has already seen it, from missing data, vague reporting, out-of-date policies, no committee oversight, and confusion on legal entities to organizations that may have failed their survey or are now on corrective action.

For all NCQA consulting firms you are considering, I recommend using our free downloadable checklist on Choosing an NCQA Accreditation Consultant.  Having worked with over 120 organizations and conducted more than 200 surveys with a 100% pass rate, I am confident that MHR will stand out as the top choice!

Speaking of 2025, if you haven’t done so already, ensure that your organization’s goals are explicitly stated to drive healthcare quality one NCQA Accreditation at a time. Here is how.

  • Make NCQA Accreditation a corporate goal
  • Cascade performance goals to the divisional, departmental, and individual levels
  • Ensure goals are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound)
  • Tie an incentive structure to performance goals

One tool to help you monitor your 2025 quality goals is MHR’s QI Work Plan Calendar. This template lists documents for committee review by standard and is customizable to your needs. Organizations enter monthly tasks such as collecting data, conducting a meeting on methodology, or auditing denial files.

On behalf of the MHR Team, we are truly grateful for your continued trust in us, and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Templates, Tools and Trainings

Some organizations have asked about updates to our templates, tools, and training based on the 2025 standards.  Be assured that our consultants are working through the changes and will have them ready no later than in the first quarter of 2025.  However, if you have a high priority “now,” please let us know.

Health Equity Templates, Tools and Training

On September 27, 2024, MHR Consultant Sonia Frazier conducted a webinar titled "Overcoming Challenges with NCQA Health Equity Accreditation." One of the most significant challenges organizations face is collecting and analyzing data from various internal and external sources. MHR offers resources designed to guide you on the path to Accreditation, starting with our comprehensive Health Equity guide. Additionally, we offer four templates for annual reports covering disparities, language services, network responsiveness, and language profiles, all aimed at easing these challenges. For more information, contact your MHR Consultant or send us an email.

Model of Care (MOC) Reviews for Special Needs Plans (SNPs)

Now is the time to request a review of a CMS MOC for Special Need Plans. NCQA is designated by CMS to review MOCs before they are submitted to CMS. MHR Consultant Jean Lockington conducts these reviews for MHR non-clients, avoiding any potential conflict of interest.

If you are not a current client, please reach out to Susan to schedule a Discovery Call and learn how we guide organizations on their path to NCQA Accreditation.
